4. Where I’m From By Tish Clarke I am from one, split into two identities from Elvis Presley and sketch pads. I am from dad’s art studio in the basement. (Oil Pastels, chalk, It coated my fingers in memories.) I am from the Apple tree the Rose Garden whose picket fence was a guard to keep unruly grandchildren out. I'm from hot chocolate and Trixie Beldon books, from Mary Chester and Jerome. I'm from wash possible and the penny-pinchers, from Go to bed! and Clean your room! I'm from On a Hill Far Away with a circle in song and prayer and memories of youth activities with Herbert the Thing. I'm from the Humphreys and the Halls, chocolate pie and strong coffee. From the love of a step father to the court where he adopted me, the strength my Mema possessed, widowed twice. On my closet shelf was a sketchbook farms with rolling hills, horses, lands far away sketches of dreams desired. 10. Why do people move? “push-pull” theory- people migrate because something “pushes” them from where they currently live and “pulls” them to the new place.

12. Population Growth The world’s population has increased dramatically. – Growth rate has never been seen before. Many people move from rural areas (villages in the countryside) to urban areas (cities and towns). Causes overcrowding in areas and over use of natural resources.

13. Movement of Products Import- goods bought from a foreign country. Export- goods sold to a foreign country. Economy- having to do with the exchanging of money for goods and services

14. Region “What common features bring geographical areas together?” Can be defined by – Physical features (mts) – Religion (Islamic) – Language (French) – Livelihood (agriculture)

15. Examples of Regions North Dakota is in the plains, a flat land region. North Dakota has regions within the state (Red River Valley). North Dakota is a part of a region (the Midwest).

16. Natural Resources Natural Resource- any useful material found in the environment. Usually soil, water, minerals and vegetation
