2 Language Objective: We will write complete sentences in the simple present verb tense in three forms: declarative negative Interrogative.

3 Application (Why?) We use the Simple Present to show actions that: happen routinely happen in the present, are simple facts.

4 Parts of Speech: Verbs Singular subject- verb(s) Plural subject- verb (I/you) modals: Singular subject-does Plural subject/I/you- do

5 Formulas & Examples Declarative + Present: Singular Subject + verbs + finisher. Plural Subject + verb + finisher. Example: The young girl brushes her teeth every morning. The young girl and her brother brush their teeth every morning.

6 Negative - Present: Subject + does/do + not + verb + finisher. Example: The vacation does not start until Saturday. Herbivores do not eat meat.

7 Interrogative ? Present: Do/Does+ subject + verb + finisher? Example: Does your neighbor walk her dog daily? Do the dishes need to be put away?
