2. Student Norms The following norms were decided by YOU! If your goal is to have a successful year, here’s how to make your goal a REALITY!

3. # 7 Be Respectful. Respect me. Respect your classmates. Respect our time together. Respect the work we do in here by giving your best effort.

4. # 6 Believe in Yourself! Believe in your ability to be a successful student!

5. # 5 Don’t Give Up! Even when something becomes difficult, don’t give up. Avoid the easy way out – giving up. Where does giving up lead you? Nowhere. What does giving up leave you with? Nothing.

6. # 4Attend Class. Be here regularly! If you’re not here, you’re behind. If you miss a class, come to a tutorial, so I can help get you caught up.

7. # 3Enjoy Learning! Have a good attitude about coming to class and learning. Knowledge is power! Knowledge leads to opportunity! Remember you are doing something good for yourself and your future by respecting your education.

8. # 2Pay Attention. It doesn’t matter if you’re here everyday, if you don’t pay attention when you’re here. Listen, take good notes, participate in class discussions and activities. Really “be here” when you’re here!

9. # 1 Work Hard! Your hard work and dedication will be expected.

10. Teacher Norms The following teacher norms were decided by YOU! This is what YOU decided you need from me to help you have a successful year. I want you to be successful in every way, so I will honor the teacher norms you have chosen for me.

11. # 7Be creative. I will do my best to design lessons that are engaging, interesting, and relevant to you.

12. # 6 I will be a motivator! I will motivate you to keep going, to work hard, and to believe in yourself!

13. # 5I believe in you! I already believe in you! I know what you are capable of accomplishing, and I will never stop believing in you!

14. # 4 Explain I will always try to explain concepts, ideas, information, instructions, etc. clearly. If you need one-on-one instruction or explanation, I am happy to help! Come to tutorials.

15. # 3Not much homework This can be arranged; however, this teacher norm is a two-way street. I will honor your time outside of class, if you honor our time in class. You do this by working hard and focusing from bell-to-bell.

16. # 2Be Helpful. I promise to be helpful. I will help you learn. I will help you succeed. I will help you recognize your full potential!

17. # 1Make learning fun! No one likes to be bored – including me! I will try to incorporate fun and innovative ways to learn in this class. I want you to be engaged in class; and you’re engaged when you’re having fun, so this is as important to me as it is to you!

18. We are a team in this room. It’s up to ALL of US to have a successful year. Do your part. And I’ll do mine.
