(DON’T COPY) Muscle cells can build up lactic acid when they are forced to work without enough of an oxygen supply –muscle cells need energy for movement whether oxygen is available or not –without oxygen, cells switch from cellular respiration to lactic acid fermentation to get ATP –build up of lactic acid creates burning sensation in muscles –You are out of breath after a sprint because your body is trying to get oxygen back to the muscles
