Thank You Letter

Objective Write a 2 paragraph letter of thanks to someone that has motivated, inspired and/or helped you in some way. Maybe they were an inspiring coach or teacher, a supportive friend or family member or someone that just made you want to be a better person in your life.

Directions Hand write or draft an email to an unsuspecting person Should be 2 paragraphs or more Outline the specifics of how they have impacted your life Share specific examples of your experiences with them To receive credit (10pts) they must email me at mschaefer@cbsd.org to let me know they have received your letter mschaefer@cbsd.org

Sample Letter Mrs. Zubak- In gym/health we got an assignment to email someone that has done something for us but has never truly received a “thank you” in return. This person is then supposed to email my teacher Mr. Schaefer at mschaefer@cbsd.org as proof that the thank you was received.mschaefer@cbsd.org I can’t think of anybody who deserves a thank you in my life so far more than you. As a teacher you have inspired me to try my best with everything that I do and to never accept defeat as a final outcome. You have taught me much and more about what it means to work for something and to aspire to get better at anything and everything. Reading has become even more important to me and I now read constantly, every single day not just because I enjoy reading but also because I love to learn what the characters and stories have to offer me. I’ve learned the importance of having a good vocabulary, good writing and reading skills and being able to express things in those ways and I can honestly say that no one has had a bigger impact on me than you in these regards. As a friend and I do think of you as my friend, you have been invaluable to me. You’ve always shown support, intelligence that none can match, genuine caring for everyone you come in contact with and honesty. Every challenge that you face only serves to make you better and to give you a new way to teach your students not only about what is required, but about the world and about people. You are a truly inspiring and kind-hearted person that has helped to make me the person that I am today, and for that I thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Dear Coach Schaefer, Thought I'd give you a shout out after about 8 years. Glad to see you're still coaching in the Central Bucks School District (and that your home field has a fence--Mike Fagnani would've benefited from that greatly). Now that I've had a good amount of distance from my baseball-playing days I can fully appreciate just how impactful my years at West were under your direction. I just wanted to say thank you for shaping me in to a better person during those very formative high school years. I learned more than I had ever known about discipline, respect, team, and sincerity. I attended art school in Pittsburgh and always felt like I had a leg-up because artists/art students can be very bitter and ironic, but I was able to apply optimism, determination, and sincerity to my endeavors. Being around non-sports players on a daily basis has forced me to think about why CB West baseball was so important- I think it's ultimately the feeling that something as arbitrary as running 90 ft. as hard as you can to beat out a throw to first can be the most important thing in your life during those seconds. I've learned from those experiences to embrace all opportunities, and train for them, and make them count. Anyways, I'll be heading out west to Portland, Oregon to take a visual effects job at a really cool company called Laika (they made Coraline and Paranorman) but will be back to the East coast of course to visit the parents/etc. I really wish you and your future teams all the best. Win, lose, tie, doesn't matter....what you're doing is really important and inspiring and has made me and hundreds of other players better men. Kaizen, Ryan
