3 Geology – the study of the origin, history, processes, and structure of solid earth. Specialized Areas:  Predicting earthquakes and volcanic eruptions  Finding coal, gas, oil, and other natural resources.  Studying fossils to learn about the Earth’s past

4 OCEANOGRAPHY The study of Earth’s oceans Areas of oceanography: ◦W◦W aves, tides, and ocean currents ◦T◦T he ocean floor to study Earth’s history or find minerals.

5 MeteorologyAstronomy The study of Earth’s atmosphere, especially in relation to weather and climate. The study of the universe beyond Earth.
