2 The Hair Color Industry in the billions Home use of hair color is over $9 billion worldwide $1.8 billion to $2.5 billion in salon sales according to James Robinson Ltd. Couple of billions greater the America’s missile defense budget of 2006.

5 The hair is considered an adornment of one’s appearance. Color is an enhancement of the natural color using artificial dye or pigment to acquire different shades. This is achieved through a one or two step process.

6 The Laws of Color Identify the primary color –Red, yellow, and Blue Name the secondary colors –Violet, Green, and Orange Give examples of the tertiary colors –Yellow-green, yellow- orange, red-orange, –Red-violet, blue-violet, and blue-green

13 12 Back of head Front of head Example chart to complete each application Place an “X” on the portion of the head according to the instructions either front or back of head. Either quadrant in front or back is correct for placement of “X”. Application 1 should designate the first placement of the application by placing an arrow to indicate from point A to B Application 2 should designate the second placement of the application by placing an arrow point toward the end of strand remaining, if necessary xxxxxxx xxxxx

14 Tint Back to Natural (bleached) 1.Part hair into four sections 2.Apply tint from regrowth (line of demarcation) to the porous ends 3.¼ to ⅛ sub-partings 4.Strand test for color development 5.At the proper development (visual) time, apply to the ends 6.When color is even, soap cap entire head or break the line of demarcation with a comb to blend color 7.Strand test for final color development 12 Comb blend this area

15 Virgin Tint to Cover Gray 1.Part hair into four sections 2.Start where hair is grayest (front section) 3.Apply tint from scalp to porous ends 4.¼ to ⅛ sub-partings 5.Strand test for color development 6.Apply to the ends (last) 7.Strand test for final color development 12 xxxx

16 Virgin Tint to Lighten Natural Color 1.Part hair into four sections 2.Start application ½ inch away from scalp, most resistant area of head (crown, back, of nape) through the porous ends 3.⅛ to ¼ inch sub-partings 4.Strand test when half your color development is achieved 5.Apply to scalp (last) 6.Strand test for final color development 12 xxxx

17 Virgin Bleach 1. Part hair into four sections 2. Start bleach application in the darkest area (crown, nape, or back) 3. Apply ½ inch away from scalp through the porous ends. 4. ⅛ to ¼ inch sub-partings 5. Strand test for color development 6. When proper degree of lightness (halfway) is achieved, apply to the scalp area 7. Strand test for final color development 8. Rinse with cool water without heavy manipulations. 1 2 xxxx

18 Virgin Pastel Toner 1.Part hair into four sections 2.Begin where the original Virgin bleach begin (crown, back, or nape) 3.Apply from scalp to porous ends 4.¼ to ⅛ inch sub-partings 5.Strand test for color development 6.Work product with hands to ends for complete blending of color 7.Strand test for final color development 1 2 Comb blend this area xxxx
