7. Interaction Humans and the environment interact with each other constantly. People affect the environment. The environment affects people.

8. Region A region is an area defined by common characteristics. We categorize regions in two basic ways: physical and cultural. Physical regions are defined by landforms, climates, soils, and natural vegetation. Cultural regions are distinguished by language, religion, lifestyle, politics, and common industry. Regions can be any size.
