6 Workshop Format –Minilesson to share a writing strategy – 10 minutes –Independent Writing Time –Teachers meet with individual students and small groups –Share Time Fiction, Information, and Opinion Summer Institutes Writer’s Notebook Pen Pal Journal Writing

7 Weekly assignment –Student delivers to pen pal on Friday –Pen pal writes back and returns to student before Tuesday –Student brings pen pal journal to school on Tuesday Writing as a way to communicate with others Please respond without correcting I will look for –Completion –Letter format –Specific skill – students will know ahead of time Pen Pal Journal
