3 A Look at Fourth Grade Math Twelve units of study Journal assignments that align with the daily concepts taught in class Study links – checked and signed Tests – given at the end of each unit Technology to supplement: IXL, Xtra Math, Khan Academy, etc.

4 A Look at Social Studies Regions of the United States, Mexico, and Canada Map Skills Current Events Constitution and the American Government

5 A Look at Science Units of study include: Water Properties Electricity and Magnetism Earth Materials Energy and Matter

6 A Look at Health Variety of Topics - “The Great Body Shop” magazine form Topics include: safety, digestion, drug/alcohol free, hearing, teeth, etc. Basic Aid Training (volunteers needed)

7 Miscellaneous Classroom Information Assignment Planners - Signed every night, great way to communicate with us Family vacation? Complete assignments when you return Report Cards – found online in January and June Classroom Conferences - Individual teacher schedule, look for information coming soon

8 Homework Math - journal page (JP) and study link (SL) Reading - at least 20 minutes Occasional homework in the other content areas Other work that is not completed during the school day Please note: We always have homework time built into our day. When students use time well, they can often complete work during the day.

9 Missing, Late, or Incomplete Homework Fourth Grade Policy: Students will miss extra morning recess to complete homework that is incomplete. If finished work was left at home they will still miss recess. No calls home We want to work on good habits and consequences that will encourage learning from mistakes. If a student is missing recess on a regular basis we will contact you directly and try to work on a plan to improve the situation.

11 Expectations We expect the children to: Follow the school philosophy: Be Safe, Be Kind, Work Hard Be respectful to classmates, teachers, staff, parents, and visitors Take responsibility for their choices Do their very best and work hard Participate in every activity

12 Parent-Teacher Partnership We ask that parents partner with us to… Stay informed of classroom and school activities Set aside a time at home when homework can be completed Work with your child on an organizational model to get homework and materials back and forth to school each day Communicate any concerns or questions you have
