ICT is used an an alternative form of Education using many features similar to those on social sites in a form of Technology based learning. ICT stands for “Information and Communication Technologies.

WHAT DOES ICT DO? ICT is used in schools to enable e-learning. This is a form of online web-based learning where students do not have to physically attend classes but are linked to their tutors through the internet, intranet or extranet. ICT is also used in schools to keep records and note students' attendance.

CONTINUED… ICT (Information and Communication Technology) can be used in schools to reduce the work load of the teachers, a good example is when students submit their assignments to the teachers and the teachers can use the internet to research on the answers to certain problems. Computers can also be useful in teaching the students and training the teachers on new skills. ICT is very similar to taking an online class, however instead of it being a class alone, it is something like an online school, and it gives students the ability to learn at their own speed with out risking falling behind.

ICT IS DIVIDED INTO 3 CATERGORIES Input Source which consists of -Visualizer/Document Camera -PC -Slate Tablet -Student Response System -Application Software

OUTPUT SOURCE Output Source consists of -projector -Interactive white board And a Display Monitor

OTHER ‘Other’ consists of -Digital Camera -Digital Recorder -Switcher - And other miscellaneous forms of technology

WHY IS ICT BENEFICIAL? -Worldwide research has shown that ICT can lead to improved student learning and better teaching methods. Though ICT can be very helpful, unfortunately, every form of technology has its Pros and Cons

PROS The pros for ICT are… Through ICT, images can easily be used in teaching and improving the retentive memory of students Teachers can give instructions more easily, and lessons can be more interactive and enjoyable. This can improve student’s attendance and concentration.

CONS OF ICT There are few cons to ICT… For those who are technologically inept, setting up devices can be very troublesome. Over time ICT can get rather expensive so its nothing to be used through all 12 years of grade school unless one is financially stable enough to support it. And finally, beginner teachers will have a hard time utilizing ICT tools for their “classrooms”
