L2000 Technical Training 5. Installation and Servicing

Installation Printer kit Before attaching the FAX-L2000 Printer Kit please read the setup guide include in the kitsetup guide The Option Memory can be attached to the kit.

Installation Network kit Before attaching the FAX-L2000 network Kit please read the setup guide include in the kitsetup guide

Installation Printer & Network kit  Installation of the L2000 options should be carried out by a Service Technician with IT knowledge.  Also see Printer kit installation manualPrinter kit installation manual  Also see Network kit installation manualNetwork kit installation manual  Knowledge of IT is required

Installation Memory  When the jumper plug is attached to the SCNT board jumper switch (JP17) even when the power is turned off, the voltage of the vanadium- lithium secondary battery is still being output to the memory extension connector (JP17). If a memory board is loaded in this condition, the memory IC will suffer damage, so be sure to remove the jumper plug

Installation verification stamp  As shown in the figure, angle the boss slightly, insert the screw, and fix the stamp unit into place.  set #1SSSW SW06 Bit3 to 1.

Installation Cassette  If you load the cassette when the cassette pickup roller is not in its initial position, then the cassette will strike the roller and may break it. Always check that the roller is in its initial position before loading the cassette.

Maintenance USER Level  Cleaning  Main unit outer covers When dirty.  Document pick-up roller When document pick-up performance fails.  Document separation When document separation or feed  performance roller (upper/lower) fails.  Document feed roller When document feed performance fails.  Document eject roller When document feed performance fails.  Scanning glass When black vertical stripes appear in copied or transmitted.  White sheet When copied or transmitted images are light.  Transfer guide When dirty.

Maintenance SERVICE Level  Multi Purpose pick-up roller  Cassette pick-up roller  Separation pad  Registration shutter.  Transfer charging  Static charge eliminator images.  Paper feed belt  Paper feed guide  Duplex feed guide  Fixing entrance guide  Fixing film  Fixing pressure roller

Cleaning Locations Rollers 1

Cleaning Locations Rollers 2

Cleaning Locations Transfer Guide 1  Disconnect the power cord of the main unit from the power source.  Lift the document feeder tray and document output tray.  Open the printer cover and remove the toner cartridge. Store the toner cartridge in its original protective bag to avoid exposure to light.  Using a soft clean cloth, wipe any dust off the blank plate of the transfer guide.

Cleaning Locations Transfer Guide 2  While holding by the green label, flip the transfer guide up to its full extent.Wipe the edge of the transfer guide with a soft, clean cloth, to remove toner and paper dust from both sides of transfer guide.

Cleaning Locations Transfer Guide 3  Wipe the silver metal strip with a soft, clean cloth. Then, gently place the transfer guide back into its original position.  NOTE: To avoid the deterioration of print quality, never touch the transfer charging roller when you clean the metal strip.

Cleaning locations

Consumables USER  User Toner cartridge (FX7)  Stamp ink

Consumables SERVICE  Separation Roller (Upper)  HB1-5284 Part No  50,000 sheets MTBF  Separation Roller (Lower)  HB1-5298 Part No  50,000 sheets MTBF

Adoption of software counter  The L2000 incorporate software counter that can display up to six counters these are exactly like the iR E116/E117 series.  Counter 1 is fixed to Total 1.  Counters 2 to 6 are changeable using service mode. Four counters are displayed by default:  Counter 1 (Total TTL),  Counter 2 (Total Large),  Counter 3 (Copy TTL)  Counter 4 (Copy Large).  On the counter display screen, the machine serial number (consisting of three alphabetic characters and 5 digits) appears for easy recognition of the number by the user.

Adoption of software counter  For E116/E117, counter data is backed up at two locations: EEPROM (counter memory) sub PCB on the image processor board, and the SRAM  Therefore, even if image processor board has to be replaced, counter data can be carried over by transplanting the EEPROM (counter memory) sub PCB to the new Image Processor PCB

Any Questions?

Objective  You should now be able to demonstrate an understanding of Installation and Servicing of the FAX L2000.  Now let’s look at the Assembly and disassembly Assembly and disassembly
