2 Technology – Heeeellllp!!!  Many of you are like me. Digital immigrants in a digital native world.  Technology is a way of life for digital natives.  Technology causes digital immigrants to pull out their hair.  View the video, “The Digital Immigrants.” (Video number one)  Does this look familiar to you, my immigrant friends? It reminds me of hmmm…me!

3 What’s the Difference  As Digital Immigrants technology is mind boggling.  As Digital Immigrants technology is scary.  When faced with new technology Natives dive right in.  Most Immigrants need help and guidance with new technologies.  What kind of help do Immigrants need?

5 Teacher Help  Where do I go to get help for me………..  A great site for teachers to get help is Linkedin. http://learn.linkedin.com/what-is-linkedin/  55 million others think this is the site for help.  The largest professional network.  It’s free!!!

6 The Linkedin Site Allows Members To:  Collaborate, which is essential for teacher development states Inger (n.d.).  Exchange knowledge with others  Plan with their colleagues that are members  Question if you need answers  Answer in you no the answers  Experience a world wide audience

8 Virtual Environments for Educators and Students  Osberg (n.d.) states “Many educators have tapped into the educational potential of virtual environments”  Virtual environments are useful for teaching.  Walbert (n.d.) says virtual environments make curriculum come alive.  Virtual environments are interactive and collaborative says Shaffer (n.d.).  They are engaging, safe places for students to learn.

9 Second Life Education Videos  Second Life is the largest virtual environment sites on the web, 1 billion users says T. Linden (2009).  "I looked around and I thought, this is crazy," Knittle (n.d.) recalls.
