3 Indirect Objects Ask __(verb) (direct object) to or for whom? Indirect Objects always are placed between verb and direct object –Judges presented the winner a silver trophy. Verb: Presented Presented who or what? A trophy=DO Presented a trophy to or for whom? The winner IO: winner –You don’t always have an indirect object You can’t have an IO without a DO, but you can have a DO without an IO

4 Subject Complements Predicate Nominative and Predicate Adjectives follow LINKING VERBS PA’s are adjectives that –describe or modify subject –The snow was heavy. PN’s are nouns or pronouns that –Identify, rename, or define subject The trip became a nightmare

5 Let’s try together Hurricanes are especially dangerous storms. The eye of a hurricane is a calm area at the storm’s center. Mike sent his application to the summer program. Will you save me a seat at the concert? Mrs. White has been teaching students French for ten years. Residents near this airport dislike the noise. The snow was light at first.
