7 FACTORS THAT AFFECT CLIMATE.

LATITUD Latitude is the distance north or south of equator in degrees. The angular distance between an imaginary line around a heavenly body parallel to its equator and the equator itself.

ALTITUDE The height above sea level. As altitude gets higher temperature goes down. Normally the top of mountains are cold because of the height.

GLOBAL WINDS Global winds are winds which come about as a consequence of global circulation patterns. These include the Trade Winds, the Westerlies, the Polar Easterlies, and the jet streams. Winds at this scale may take weeks or even years to return to the point in the cycle where they began.global circulation patterns

LARGE BODIES OF WATER The world's large bodies of water include oceans, seas, gulfs, bays, and lakes. The large bodies of water keep surrounding temperatures moderate.

OCEAN CURRENTS Differences in density cause the water to move. At the poles freezing occurs which leaves saltier, denser water behind which sinks to the bottom of the ocean and flows towards the equator. At the equator these cold currents meet and push upwards causing upwelling. At the same time the water at the equator is being heated and pushed pole wards. As this warm water travels away from the equator it releases much of the heat its absorbed.

TOPOGRAPHY the topography is a barrier for mass of air. the warm mass of air is cooling when it has to climb along the mountains what produces storms. Into the valleys the winds runs cooling or warming. On the bottom of the valleys the weather is warmer than on the mountainous zone. The highest mountains are a great wall for mass of air coming from oceans so that the coasts zones are warming and wets and the continental inner zone are semiarid or desertics.

EL NIÑO El niño is produced by a convective cycle at warm and cold water onto the pacific ocean, from India to south America. El Nino effects two major countries. Australia and South America. In Australia, The 'El Nino Effect" causes drought, lack of water, dry season. In South America, it causes the COMPLETE opposite. It causes flash flooding, lots of rain, and causes the collapse of the 'Peruvian Fishing Industry' - which is the main fishing industry in South America.
