Imagine School MISSION: IMAGINE SCHOOL IS COMMITTED TO ACTIVE, REFLECTIVE, AND CREATIVE LEARNING AMONG OUR STUDENTS WHO KNOW HOW TO ASK QUESTIONS, SOLVE PROBLEMS AND MAKE THOUGHTFUL DECISIONS. WE FOSTER MUTUAL RESPECT AND SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY, ENHANCED BY A STRONG PARTNERSHIP BETWEEN HOME, SCHOOL AND COMMUNITY.

Teaching and Learning Students will: Know how to find and process information’ Believe that they can learn and possess different strengths Are able to problem solve and think critically The curriculum will include: Problem solving, critical thinking, leadership and teamwork, collaboration, communication and decision-making Skills development and problem based learnining

Teaching and Learning continued… Technology will be: A tool, not a goal Integrated into all learning (anything that does not require human touch) Research, applications, immersive virtual reality Comprised of wrist data bads, personal devices and smart pens

Organization Time is fluid, has student-based flexibility, group meetings/interactions Space is web-based and includes exploration spaces, and group meeting places Students serve as teachers. Teachers serve as facilitators. Monies are allocated toward technology salaries, physical materials, and building partnerships and internships. Facilities include meeting places and communities.

Accountability Student success is demonstrated with Portfolios Skill based assessment Comprehensive project design/development with rubrics based on curriculum standards Student self assessment, makers, economy, bottom up empowerment, metacognitive student reflection Critical components that drive learning

Culture We believe that we should be preparing students to be global citizens committed to social justice. We believe that teachers develop strong human connections with students and utilize this relationship to know their students and customize learning. We have embraced an attitude that celebrates diversity and has an emphasis on acceptance and team-work. We believe that rules should encompass the principles of restorative justice. We believe that student safety is a priority and that designated learning spaces and safe areas are necessary along with professional staff designated to assist with emotional needs.

Family and Community Engagement Community engagement is included in planning, development and implementation of project celebrations Communication is fluid and represented in multiple types Communication is also ongoing, in multiple languages, methods and information scanning.

Leadership and Decision-Making Decisions are made by an advisory board consisting of: administrators, teachers, parents, community stake holders and students Democratic principles are embraced and based on a positive impact on student learning. Leadership is collaborative and developed as part of the curriculum.
