2. Promotion Messages

Promotion Messages Identify Needs Find our selling point Tailor our message Sell AIESEC to IT Students

Promotion Messages Identify Needs We need to make sure that IT and Engineering students know that we understand them First of all we need to understand their needs: They are IT students or engineers… Looking for practical experience, which is not offered by their courses. Looking for international experiences in their field. They can take time off from their academics and tend to be open to any part of the world for their internships. They understand that despite their knowledge in technologies, they need soft skills, management skills, teamwork skills, and they need to develop themselves in the non-IT sphere.

Promotion Messages Find our selling point How do we specifically sell to IT profiles? What is our selling point? We offer practical internships in their field (IT TNs) We offer the chance to do this in an international environment We offer involvement in AIESEC, which will build their soft skills, management skills, teamwork skills, and all in the real world – not virtual spaces We offer leadership opportunities that can give them an advantage over their peers We offer them to be involved in projects (many internships require or prefer experience in project management)

Promotion Messages Tailoring our message What do we say when promoting? How to communicate our offers? Let’s keep business language out of it! Internships provide you with work experience and supervised work experience and set you aside from the rest when graduating university (apply the knowledge gained at university) We provide you with the soft skills as well as management and project management skills Public speaking; leadership; negotiation; decision making; active listening; problem solving

Promotion Messages Practice! Sell to Jon 20 years old 2 nd year university student 30 hours of classes per week Engineering student No practical work experience

Selling to IT Students Sell to IT Students How do we sell What channels or platforms do we use? Social Media/Online Promotion Facebook – create a FB group/event for your LC giving information about AIESEC as well as when the information session is Twitter – create a twitter account and tweet daily/twice per day! Website – make sure your AIESEC website is up-to-date and contains current information, you could also contain sample TN forms Physical Promotion Go physically go to the faculties, have a table with AIESEC representatives who catch students’ attention and tell them about the key things we offer (refer to previous slide) Lecture presentations – get faculty/professor approval to go into the lecture and do a short (1-2 min) speech about AIESEC, remember to include the website site for more information!

Selling to IT Students Sell to IT Students How do we sell What channels or platforms do we use? Events Hold an ‘internship fair’ – Have a room booked near the classrooms, promote it and have sample internships up on the wall, with returned trainees telling about their experience. Parallel to this run information sessions in the other part of the room. This is a 20 minute quick intro to AIESEC. Get a professional to run a seminar/workshop on a topic that will interest TT students, at the end do an AIESEC pitch and have a form for them to sign up.
