 Students will be able to name the seasons. Students will be introduced to the concept of yesterday, today, and tomorrow. They will be able to name the months of the year. They will understand and be able to illustrate aspects of different seasons. They will be able to name different clothing articles that go with each season.

 What kind of clothing is worn depending on the season?  What activities are appropriate for each season?  Which seasons are associated with which calendar month?  What are the characteristics of each season?

 The seasons affect many parts of our daily lives, from what we eat to what we wear, the things we do and the things we see all around us.  Seasons are a period of the year characterized by particular conditions of weather and temperature  There are four different seasons in every year ◦ Spring ◦ Summer ◦ Fall ◦ Winter

 We have seasons because Earth's axis, the imaginary line that goes through the Earth and around which the Earth spins, is tilted.  It's tilted about 23.5 degrees relative to our plane of orbit around the Sun.

 The sun rises earlier in the morning and sets later in the afternoon  The days get a little warmer  Spring flowers appear  Birds start to build their nests  Weather in spring can be very varied. There may be days when it is cold enough to snow, and days when it is warm enough to play out in the garden. Spring months can also be very windy

 The days are warm and long  Sunny  School holidays  The sun's rays can be harmful to our bodies  You should never look directly at the sun because it will damage your eyes  You also need to protect your skin from the rays so that you don't get sunburned

 The days get shorter  Although it is often warm and sunny during the day, it can be chilly at night  It is the time of year when leaves fall off the trees  School starts again  Autumn can bring strong winds and a lot of rain

 The days are short and sometimes very cold.  Sometimes the winter rain will turn to sleet and snow, and often we wake up to frost and ice on the ground.  Winter weather in our area is often cold and wet.
