Feeding Relationships Determine the Path of Energy & Chemicals in Ecosystems & Energy Flows Through Ecosystems By: Kelsey D., Tony M, Mia G.

Flow of Energy In Ecosystems Energy comes from the sun to enter through living things. After the energy comes from the sun and enters through photosynthesis which is by bacteria. theyre are 2 types of organisms that have direct access to the energy. herbivores feed on the plant while the plant is alive Decomposers feed on the dead plants. In some ecosystems the majority of energy goes to the Decomposers.

Trophic Levels in the Ecosystem the energy is transferred through trophic levels through food webs. when an animal feeds off of a certain thing it loses heat. During respiration energy is lost. when the trophic level goes up the more energy it loses.

comaparison from ecosystem productivity and biomass. flow of energy through ecosystems are measured in units of heat. biomass is renewable is a renewable energy source. Biomass is devrived from living or recently living organisms. Its a plant matter that is usually used to generate heat.

3 Types of ecological pyramids 1.Numbers: The pyramid of numbers is good for describing the food in an ecological system.P lants are at the way top of the pyramid with the numbers included. 2. Biomass: A biomass pyramid is resulted when the combined weight of the producers are larger than consumers. 3.Energy: Energy is passed down from main sorces to all other forms of life.
