Role of the UTVA Parent: K-8 In our K-8 program the parent, working in conjunction with an experienced teacher, serve as a “learning coach” for students. A suggested lesson plan is provided each week and updates automatically as a child progresses. Parents of children in grades K-5 can expect to spend 3-5 hours per day supporting their child’s education. In grades 6-8, learning coach time typically decreases to 2-3 hours per day as your child becomes more independent.
