2 Section 1 1. Hominids were an early ancestor of humans. 2. Homo erectus means upright man. 3. The scientific name for modern humans is homo sapien. 4. They increased chances for survival. 5. They made simple tools to process food, used fire to cook their food, and developed a language to make it easier to communicate

3 6. A chopper was a simple tool used to process food about 3 million years ago. 7. Cave paintings were used to teach people how to hunt, or maybe they had religious meaning. 8.Women were responsible for gathering food like wild plants, seeds, and nuts.

4 Section 2 9. Early humans were forced to move new environments. 10. The use the land bridges. 11. Mesolithic era means the Middle Stone Age. 12. They needed more protection to survive in colder areas. 13. In Central Asia, people used mammoth bones to make their homes. 14. In prehistoric religion, people gathered for ceremonies around megaliths. 23. People in farming societies made their clothes from animal, sheep and goat wool, and plant fibers. 24. Megaliths were sites used for religious gatherings.
