3  I will provide you with an in-class duotang for your journal writing.  These responses will be shared in class.  Sometimes, I will respond to your entries.  You also need a PERSONAL journal. This is different. Perhaps you have one at home already. This journal is for your eyes ONLY!

4  You will also be given an opportunity for independent reading. Please have your literature with you at all times.

7 Please answer the following questions on a separate sheet of paper. There are no correct answers. I just want to get to know you better as a reader. In general, how do you feel about reading? If you had to guess… How many books would you say you owned? ________ How many books would you say there are in your house? ________ How many books would you say you’ve read in the last twelve months? ________ How did you learn to read? Why do people read? List as many reasons as you can think of. What does someone have to do or know in order to be a good reader? What kinds of books do you like to read? How do you decide which books you’ll read? Who are your favourite authors? (List as many as you’d like.) Have you ever reread a book? ______ If so, can you name it/them here? How often do you read at home?
