2 SECRETARÍA DE ESTADO DE UNIVERSIDADES E INVESTIGACIÓN Dirección General de Investigación 2 MINISTERIO DE EDUCACIÓN Y CIENCIA Activities for Microbial Genomics within the Biotechnology Programme (MCYT) include: Finance and promote research projects in which the use of genomic and proteomic tools are needed for reaching the scientific objectives One call for proposals per year Duration 3 years One single laboratory and also coordinated projects (2-5 labs) Evaluation by peer-review by national experts (ANEP) Panel of experts participate in the final decission and the prioritization of funding according to the relevance and quality of the proposal

4 SECRETARÍA DE ESTADO DE UNIVERSIDADES E INVESTIGACIÓN Dirección General de Investigación 4 MINISTERIO DE EDUCACIÓN Y CIENCIA Strategic Action on Genomics and Proteomics The goals of this strategic action, specifically related to microbial pathogens are: Estimulate and sustain multidisciplinary research to exploit the full potential of genome information Generate expertise and know-how in the field of microbial pathogens Generate fundamental knowledge and basic tools for functional genomics in microbial pathogens
