3 Vision: Accessibility All Vision, Including Bluetooth Braille Devices All “low vision” see workarounds such as large text and pinch/zoom. Other accessibility features related to vision and physical access.

4 Taking a Closer Look: Zoom and Voiceover Zoom: -3 Finger Tap -Hide/Show controller -Can zoom: window, keyboard, follow focus while reading text VoiceOver: -Control speaking rate, tone, etc. -Toggle on/off using triple click home button -”Alex” no available -Screen reader is different than “speak text” it is a way to access the iPad for someone totally blind -speak hints on/off: helpful versus proficient users with cognitive overload

5 Additional VoiceOver Features Rotor: Better control with simple gestures Toggle between headings, words, languages, characters, etc. Braille bluetooth and new “braille” keyboard on touch screen Functions in “typing style” and phonetic feedback

6 Alternatives to using VoiceOver (remember a screenreader is promoting access to the entire device) to read selected text or the window, Speech is a better AT solution Speech is general<accessibility and it will speak either selected text by holding your finger down or it will speak a window. Change settings inside general< accessibility Both options will pause Must close “speech” in window or it will continue to read in previous app] It will highlight content as it reads

7 Accessibility: Hearing Vibrating and Visual alerts Mono options Connecting iOS device to hearing aids (it can perform like an FM system in that way) Phone noise cancelation Subtitles and captioning (where available) In same menu, turn on video descriptions where available which are beneficial to someone who is blind or low vision
