7 Proactive People are a different breed… Proactive People:  A A A Are not easily offended  T T T Take responsibility for their choices  T T T Think before they act  B B B Bounce back when something bad happens  A A A Always finds a way to make it happen  F F F Focus on things they can do something about, and don’t worry about things they can’t

8 Proactive Language  I’ll do it  I can do better than that  Let’s look at all our options  I choose to  There’s gotta be a way  I’m not going to let your bad mood rub off on me.

9 Reactive People… a common breed? Reactive People:  Are easily offended  Focuses on the negative  Blow off responsibilities  Blame others  React at the spur of the moment the moment  Get angry and say things they later regret  Get “beat down” when something bad happens

10 Reactive Language  I’ll try  That’s just the way I am  There’s nothing I can do  I have to??  I can’t  You ruined my day!

11 1.Separate in groups of boys and girls -Boys are Proactive words -Girls are Reactive words 2.Give the dry erase marker to one representative in your group. 3.When I say go, the 1 st representative writes down a word for their team on the board. 4.Once you write down one word, hand off the marker to another teammate. 5. Get as many words as you can before the time is up!

14 Positive Promise  Make a positive promise to yourself  Something that you can keep within the next 48hrs  Write down your promise in your spiral notebook  Come back to class and discuss how well you accomplished your goal with a partner.  Was it realistic?  Were you able to keep your promise?
