8 Purpose of Meeting determine if motions presented are of emergent nature From 2007 AGM: emergent is defined as “matters that if delayed until the AGM will impact negatively on boards’ ability to influence public policy or a public education issue.”

10 3.1 New School Construction: An Economic Stimulus Be it resolved: That during the present economic crisis, in order to stimulate the economy, the BCSTA strongly urges the Minister of Finance to allocate additional funding to the Minister of Education for the purpose of new school construction. Emergent? Clarity of motion & rationale

11 3.2 Masking FSA Results Be it resolved: That BCSTA urge the Minister of Education to revise its policy relating to the release of assessment data sets, specifically the Foundation Skills Assessment results to external bodies, such as the Fraser Institute; so that access for the purpose of ranking is no longer allowed either by directly refusing the access or by masking the identity of the schools. Emergent? Clarity of motion & rationale

12 3.3 Amendments to VISTA Bylaws All changes of branch bylaws must be approved by PC.
