3  The Jomon period lasted from 14,000-300 BC. They wore fur clothes because weaving was not invented. Also this periods people were mostly hunters and farmers, but They had made the original form of pottery.

4  The Yayoi period lasted from 400 BC -250 AD. It is named Yayoi after a town in tokyo.one of the advancements of this periods was they started weaving, rice farming and they also started to produces ores such as iron and bronze. To maintain order there were 30 small tribes lead by on shaman named Himiko of Yamataikoku.

5  The kofun period lasted from 250 AD – 538 AD. The kofun is named after the Japanese word tomb. Through this period the Japanese had made contact with Asia which meant that they had been connected to the world through Korea. This connection aided Japan in helping it trade with the world. The trade between Korea and Japan influenced the Japanese culture by introducing Buddhism.

6  The Asuka period lasted from 538 A.D- 710 A.D. Through the introduction of Buddhism the Yamato government developed in art,politic, and social issues.

7  The Nara period lasted from 710-784 A.D. In 710 the empress Gemmei made Nara the capital of there empire. Large Buddhist monasteries were built in the new capital. The monasteries quickly gained strong political influence. in order to protect the position of the emperor and central government, the capital was moved to Nagaoka in 784, and finally to Heian (Kyoto) in 794 where it should remain for over one thousand years.

8  The Hein period lasted from 794-1192 A.D.
