1 March 25

2 Welcome ASL 1– (15 min.) Doorbuster- please copy all notes below: There are many careers where you can use ASL. First, signing in your business or as an employee: ASL is the 4 th most used language in this country, so any business will have more clients when employees have the ability to sign. Second, become an interpreter: interpreters are in high demand, even in this slow economy. There are close to 90 interpreter job openings in Texas schools alone! Interpreter training programs are at TCC, and most other community colleges. Third, major in ASL to become an ASL teacher, or learn ASL to become a great Deaf Education teacher: there are about 4 universities in this country that allow you to major in ASL and earn a 4-year college degree in ASL. Lamar University in southeast Texas is one of them (they also do interpreter training). Finished? Copy the signs to the right (or sign with someone)---

3 ASL 1- Doorbuster (15 min.) Activity: – -Substitute choice – Or, Written MASL!
