2 What is Globalization A process that connects and unites people around the world in the realization that everyone shares the same basic needs and aspirations.

3 Global Identity References Minority: a group of people who differ (racially, politically, economically, etc.) from a larger group of the society that they are a part of. Majority: group of people who have control or power (socially, politically, economically, etc.)

4 Global Identity References Muslim: a person who is a follower of Islam. Global North/Developed Countries: Countries with a high stand of living due to being technologically advanced, highly urbanized and wealthy. Global South/Developing Countries: Countries with a low standard of living due to low incomes, poor infrastructure and low levels of health education and human rights.

5 Canadian Identity References Francophone: people whose first language is French. Anglophone: people whose fist language is English. Allophone: people whose first language is something other than French or English.

6 Canadian Identity References Qubecer: A resident of Quebec Qubecois: A Fracophone of Quebec origin Aboriginal / Indigenous People: Collective name for the original inhabitants of North America First Nations: Collective name for Indigenous inhabitants not including Metis or Inuit.

7 Canadian Identity References Metis: Descendants of unions between European and First Nations people. Inuit: Name for indigenous people who live near the Arctic region of North America.
