2 314 Jobs – ADF is one of Australia’s largest and most diverse employers A number of different Avenues of Entry Officer Entry – includes ADFA (Australian Defence Force Academy, Undergraduate Scheme and Direct Entry General Entry – Non Technical and Technical trades Reserves Gap Year

3 Officers & Management Aviation Engineering Trades & Apprenticeships Communications, IT & Education Combat & Security Health Care & Science Business & Administration Logistics, Hospitality & Support

4 All positions have a required minimum education level Must be an Australian citizen or permanent resident Minimum age is 17 (with parental consent), can begin the recruitment process at 16 and 6 months or 16 if applying for ADFA

6 Attend a YOU session Your Opportunities Unlimited Information session Aptitude Evaluation (will determine what positions will suit the individual) Medical interview with a nurse Interview with a military careers counselor (CC) By the end of the YOU session the candidate will have the information and tools to be able to make a decision on continuing their application and the job that they wish to apply for

7 Assessment & Interview Day Medical Assessment conducted by a doctor Psychological Interview conducted by a psychologist Defence Interview (job interview) with a senior military member Tips for Assessment day Know the job and service that you are applying for (this information can all be found on the website) Think about your personal decisions so you can articulate why you want to join the ADF Present well, neatly dressed and maintain eye contact during the interviews

8 For General Entry candidates, once recommended at Assessment the next stage is Enlistment. Once Officer Entry candidates are recommended at Assessment they need to attend an Officer Selection Board (OSB) and be recommended at board for Appointment Officer Selection Boards A formal interview with a panel of military members and a psychologist Activities that test leadership / team work and other individual abilities

9 PRIOR TO ENLISTMENT / APPOINTMENT All candidates must pass the Physical Fitness Assessment (PFA) Beep test - Army 7.5 / Air Force 6.5 / Navy 6.1 Army candidates must also complete push ups / sit ups Males 15 push ups & Females 8 push ups / 45 sit ups Various administrative paperwork requirements Candidates must also pass a final medical check on the day of enlistment / appointment
