1. Alexandre Buisse

2. Alexandre is a 27 year old commercial mountain photographer from Chamonix, in the heart of the French Alps. He grew up nearby in Lyon, which is a place he very much cherishes. He travels often, “ chasing mountains wherever they happen to be hiding, and sometimes even managing to climb them.“ Alex is an avid practitioner of mountain sports, especially skiing climbing and paragliding. He practices nearly every sport he photographs. Being a mountaineer gives him access to some of the most beautiful and remote locations in the world, and being able to share those locations with the world is his main motivation for picking up a camera. Alexandre has written 2 books on mountain photography, and his images have been awards winners in multiple showcases. His life master plan includes spending a winter in Antarctica, making alpine first ascents, soloing big walls, and eating a lot of cheese. He suffered frostbite last year after spending a night in the open, without a sleeping bag or stove, on top of a 600m ice face, in January. 3. Alexandre has been influenced by Ansel Adams, Galen Rowell and Jimmy Chin, along with some critique websites such as 1x.com and weeklyshot.org. Though he earned aMaster in Theoretical Computer Science/Mathematics, and spent 4 years working on his PhD, he found photography, for which he never studied, to be the favorable choice. He finds inspiration in the mountains themselves, and is deeply passionate about everything he photographs. He holds little desire to shoot outside of the mountains he climbs.
