3 FORT TOULOUSE Fort Toulouse is located in Wetumpka, Alabama. It is famous for the Creek War that took place in July 1813. The war was between the French and the Indians. Now, there is a park on 165 acres that has a bookstore and museum.

4 U.S.S. BATTLESHIP MEMORIAL PARK The U.S.S. Battleship Memorial Park is located in Mobile, Alabama. The battleship was Launched in February 1942.

5 HELEN KELLER BIRTHPLACE Helen Keller was an extraordinary woman who was deaf and blind. She was born on June 27, 1880. She lived until 1968. When she was only 1 ½ years old, she got extremely sick and lost both her vision and hearing. When Helen was seven, her family hired a tutor, Anne Sullivan, to help her learn as much as possible. Helen Keller eventually learned over 50 different languages and much more! Helen Keller did research, gave speeches, and helped raise money for other people with blindness and deafness. This site in Alabama is very special because you can see how a handicapped woman overcame blindness and deafness. Helen Keller’s birthplace and home is located in Tuscumbia, Alabama. Ivy Green, as it is called, was built in 1820 by David and Mary Fairfax Moore Keller, grandparents of Helen Keller. She also LOVED hot dogs! www.afb/org/helenkeller.asp

6 ALABAMA CONSTITUTION VILLAGE oThe Alabama Constitution Village was made in 1880. o It is Located in Huntsville, Alabama. oIt has a lot of people and beautiful gardens.

7 ALABAMA MUSIC HALL OF FAME The Alabama Music Hall of Fame is located in Tuscumbia, Alabama. It first opened in July 26, 1990.It had over 35,000 music Lovers on hand. The Music Hall of Fame honors all styles of music. It is dedicated to the preservation and dedication of Alabama’s finest musicians and our rich musical heritage. Jim Nabors is a member of our Alabama Music Hall of Fame.

8 OLD ALABAMA TOWN  Old Alabama Town is located in Enterprise, Alabama.  This town is famous for the “Bollweivel” bug! The bollweivel destroyed cotton crops at this place between 1910-1915.  The farmers were forced to plant peanuts and corn. In doing this, they made more money than they originally would have growing cotton.  The Bollweevil originally came from Mexico.  In 1919, Enterprise, Alabama made a statue in honor of the bollwevel.

9 HORSESHOE BEND NATIONAL MILITARY PARK This place is an Alabama Historical Site because many Indians lost their lives here. It is located in Daviston, Alabama. In 1814, General Andrew Jackson and his army attacked Creek warriors on the Tallapoosa River, six miles North of Horseshoe Bend. Andrew Jackson was later elected President of the United States in 1829.

10 NOCCALULA FALLS Noccalula Falls is the largest waterfall in Alabama. It is approximately 90-100 feet long. It is named after a young Cherokee maiden who plunged to her untimely death rather than forsake her true for love. The park now has a country store, grist mill, covered bridge, and more for all to see!

11 THE ALABAMA STATE CAPITAL  The Alabama State capital is located in Montgomery, Alabama.  It was built in 1851. It is where our state laws are made and where the governor resides.  Our current Alabama  state governor is Governor Bob Riley.
