Petals Structure: Leaf like, colorful, arranged in a circle around the top of the flower’s stem. Function: Protection, Attract pollinators Why are most flowers bright colors?

Sepals Structure: Modified leaves that surround the developing flower,. Usually are green in color Function: To support and protect the flower also prevent it from drying out!

Stamen Structure: A stalk-like filament Function: Provides the nutrients and water to produce pollen. Is the MALE reproductive structure of a flower.

Anther Structure: It is located on the top of the stamens. Function: Produce pollen – that holds the sperm

Pistils Structure: centrally located, stalk-like tube filament Function: To collect pollen and lead it to the ovary for pollenation Is the FEMALE reproductive structure of a flower

Ovary Structure: Is located at the bottom portion of the pistil Function: Each ovary contains an egg When pollen from the male portion of the plant reaches the ovary and fertilization occurs the ovary grows into the fruit or vegetable.
