2. What is Canvas? Canvas is a Learning Management System! Canvas is designed to simplify teaching and learning by connecting all the digital tools teachers use in one easy place. Canvas has been adopted as the Learning Management System for The University of Texas, Texas A&M, The Ivy League, and a growing number of K-12 public school systems. Our students are getting great University preparation by using Canvas!

3. How does it work? Highlights! To access Canvas students login to myad.austinisd.org with their regular cloud login credentials. This is the New AISD cloud!myad.austinisd.org Every student has a Personal Canvas Account! When their personal Canvas account opens all of their course materials, assignments, deadlines and supplemental materials for every class are already in that account. Students can receive a wide variety of notifications in the way they choose, (e-mail, text, twitter etc.) Examples include; missing grades, or assignments, changes of due dates, graded assignments etc. Students can submit their work in any digital format and teachers can also interact with students in a variety of ways!

4. How does it Work? Continued Students can work in groups, participate in discussion groups, and watch prepared lectures and presentations in their personal Canvas account on any internet accessible device Canvas has an app as well. Download the Canvas app from the App store or Play store and when prompted enter austinisd.instructure.com (as their school) Students will be taken to myad.austinisd.org and they simply login as they would from the web.myad.austinisd.org

5. What's Next ? We are ironing out any remaining login or access issues for students. We are providing ongoing staff development and teacher assistance as they learn to use and take advantage of this powerful tool! We are working on parent access accounts! Until that happens ask your student to take you on a Tour of Canvas with their login! Canvas is very parent friendly! Student grades are still available to parents through the AISD Parent Cloud!
