LEGISLATIVE BRANCH Established by Article I of the Constitution Make laws Has the power to impeach or confirm judges Confirm presidential appointments Can override a presidential veto with two-thirds vote of the majority.

THREE BRANCHES OF GOVERNMENT
LEGISLATIVE BRANCH Congress has expressed powers – Powers directly stated in the Constitution. Enumerated Powers are so called because they are numbered. Enumerated powers are expressed powers by number. Elastic clause – is also called the “Necessary and Proper” clause because it gives congress the power to do whatever is necessary to carry out the expressed powers.

THE EXECUTIVE BRANCH Established by Article II
Has the power to carry out law Constitution grants the president “Vague Powers” The president holds the Congress in check. The president has specific powers (must know) Commander in Chief
