First Interim Workshop CALPADS and LCFF DBUG October 22, 2013

What is a Data Steward?

Who are your district’s Data Stewards? You can’t know everything so who is the source of data for specific reporting elements. Student Counts by school and grade English Learners Free and Reduced Lunch Migrant Students Homeless and Foster Students Direct Certification for NSLP

Certification Report – 1.17

How can you estimate your unduplicated count? Your best source will be your SIS. Has the data been entered into the SIS? Who has checked the data? Ask your SIS administrator for an estimated unduplicated count.

The math is simple! Total Unduplicated Count (FRM + EL)152 Divided by Total Enrollment210 Concentration Grant 72%

CALPADS and Local Control Funding Formula In addition to base funding, the new Local Control Funding Formula (LCFF) provides local educational agencies (LEAs) supplemental and concentration grants for disadvantaged students CALPADS will be the source for disadvantaged student counts

CALPADS and Local Control Funding Formula Supplemental Grant LEAs receive 20 percent of base grant for disadvantaged students Concentration Grant LEAs receive 50 percent of base grant for disadvantaged students exceeding 55 percent of the LEAs’ enrollment

Best Practices Create a CALPADS Committee Let every department know what is needed for CALPADS Develop a calendar with timelines for data entry, extraction, and report checking Leave time to correct data after report checking and before certification.
