OPAM: Office of Proposal & Award Management Welcome Robin! Robin Feidelson recently joined our office from Surgery. She is currently training and will soon be assigned departments. Aric Dutelle 17

OPAM: Office of Proposal & Award Management Updated Service Level Understanding It’s not novel. It’s not new. It’s just improved! OPAM, along with assistance from departmental representatives throughout the Institution, has arrived at an updated Service Level Understanding (SLU). This will go into effect October 6, 2015. Aric Dutelle 18

OPAM: Office of Proposal & Award Management Purposes of the SLU Describe Pre-award services to be provided by OPAM to Research Departments and Units (RDU) at OHSU. Identify performance expectations for Pre-award Services offered by OPAM. Identify obligations and responsibilities of the RDU to permit OPAM to meet its stated performance expectations. Aric Dutelle 19

OPAM: Office of Proposal & Award Management It was time for an update… Previous version of SLU was from 2006. 1637 sponsor submissions during last fiscal year. Of those, 52% were reviewed and submitted 0-3 days prior to the sponsor deadline. Aric Dutelle 20

OPAM: Office of Proposal & Award Management Two Levels of Review Under the revamped SLU, there will be two levels of OPAM review available to RDU regarding sponsored program submissions. In-depth 10-Day prior to submission review Limited 3-Day prior to submission review Aric Dutelle 21

OPAM: Office of Proposal & Award Management Met the SLU: 10 Day Review If the RDU routes the submission to OPAM in a timely fashion (10 days or more prior to requested sponsor deadline) then there will be a thorough review which will encompass competitive aspects, sponsor-required components, and institutional liability and commitments. Aric Dutelle 22

OPAM: Office of Proposal & Award Management Did Not Meet the SLU: 3 Day Review If routed to OPAM between 3 to 9 days prior to sponsor deadline (instead of requested 10 days prior), submission will only be reviewed for a short list of items which involve commitments by the Institution or liability incurred by the Institution. Items which lend to competitiveness of the submission (formatting, ancillary documentation, etc.) will be the responsibility of the RDU and PI to have checked, as there will not be sufficient time for OPAM to conduct a thorough review. Aric Dutelle 23

OPAM: Office of Proposal & Award Management OPAM will be using InfoEd to track timeliness of submissions relating to the SLU. For a detailed look at roles and responsibilities associated with the updated SLU, and the SLU time table, please see “Important Links”Important Links Aric Dutelle 24

OPAM: Office of Proposal & Award Management Questions? For questions on the updated SLU, join OPAM Pre-award for a information session to be held October 14 th, from 1-2pm, in CHH 3171. If you are unable to attended and have questions, please contact the OPAM Pre-award Manager, Aric Dutelle, at dutelle@ohsu.edu or 4-7033.dutelle@ohsu.edu Aric Dutelle 25
