3. Starting the College Search Now is the time for juniors to start looking at colleges Attend the college fair at VUJC on September 28th Search the internet, college handbooks and meet with college reps. New system for college rep. visits. Visit colleges of interest

Tests for Juniors/Seniors PSAT – Wed, October 14 th in a.m. for 10 th & 11 th PSAT is free for Juniors/Sophs.(change from previous years) SAT Reasoning Test and/or ACT – take during the spring of the junior year SAT Subject tests SAT/ACT retakes no later than Dec. of senior year ECA retest for some on Dec. 7 th and 10 th

9. College Application Process Access College/University website. Apply on-line Access Parchment Request transcript to be sent to prospective colleges. Purdue, IU, and NCAA Clearinghouse require test scores to be sent directly from testing agency.

10. More on College Applications Is counselor form/signature page needed? Thanksgiving is recommended deadline for submitting applications If letter of recommendation is needed, allow two (2) weeks (forms on website)

12. Change for Parchment Starting this Fall Parchment will charge $3.25 for any past graduate to send a transcript. There is no fee for in-state schools for currently enrolled high school students. Students go from currently enrolled to past graduates on August 1 each year.

General Overview of the Junior Year Take the PSAT in October(if registered) Take an SAT and/or ACT- Send scores directly to IU, Purdue, and NCAA Clearinghouse Any junior that scored below a 42 on the sophomore PSAT will take the ACCUPLACER in late February Start investigating colleges and careers Look at admission requirements Maintain or improve grades Meet with counselor in the spring for course selection for senior year Visit colleges next summer

17. What is the difference between Dual Credit and AP credit????? Dual credit may or may not be accepted at all colleges AP credits are accepted at all colleges unconditionally

18. Dual Credit At this time we transitioning our Dual Credit program from Oakland City University to IVY Tech. We are waiting for IVY Tech to review our course syllabuses and teacher credentials to see which classes will be approved for this school year. Dual credit instructors must have 18hrs of graduate level coursework in their content area, and/or 36hrs of undergraduate work in content area. IVY Tech does not charge a fee for dual credit courses. It is our goal and a priority to offer as many dual credit courses in the future as we have in the past. All dual credit students have earned prior to this year will still count as college credit.(No credit that students have earned will be taken away)

19.
