College Algebra This is a course designed to prepare students for their college entrance exam and for Algebra in college.
3
Class Notes After every class, I will post up the class notes on the webpage along with a copy of the homework assignment. If a student is absent, or needs to look back at examples that we did in class, they can look on the webpage. If a student does not have access to their textbook one day, they have access to the homework at the end of the class notes.
4
Homework Homework is assigned from the textbook and given every night that there is no quiz. (On Board) Students must copy the question and show work to receive credit for the homework. Homework counts for 20% of the grade and will be entered once a week.
5
Tests/Quizzes Tests and Quizzes make up 80% of the grade. Students will know when the quiz is about a week in advance. If they are absent on the day of the review, they are still responsible to take the quiz. The review and answers will be posted on my webpage.
6
E-mail If they are absent on the day of the quiz, then they have to email me by the end of the day to make an appointment with me before school or during their lunch to make up the quiz. Students can also email me with questions if they are stuck on a homework or review question and I will work it out and send them an explanation.
7
Extra Help Everyday I am available before school after 7:30am and after school. In addition, the math resource room is available. There is a teacher located in that room every lunch period and willing to help students with their questions.
8
Extra Credit Bank Students have taken a pre-assessment. They received extra credit points based on how many questions they got correct. Whenever I return a test or quiz, students can use points from their bank to raise their score. Students will receive 2 extra credit points for every time to go the resource room to receive help.
9
What students can expect from me I will not give warnings or break my own rules or any school rules. I will teach them what them what they need to do well on their College Placement Exams and succeed in college math. I will treat everyone respectfully and fairly.
10
What I expect from the students They will follow all rules and take responsibility for their actions. They will be attentive to the lesson. The will be motivated to learn.
