4 Children’s Rights and Wellbeing High Level Outcomes Children and Young People are experiencing their rights as articulated in the UNCRC Children and Young People are attaining the highest level of wellbeing possible for them as defined by the GIRFEC wellbeing indicators

5 Children’s Rights Priorities Promotion of awareness and understanding of children’s rights Support for children and families in relation to children’s rights In addition – all applications should demonstrate an awareness and understanding of children’s rights in the services and activities delivered

6 Children and Young People’s Participation Priorities UNCRC Article 12 – Right to be heard. Supporting CYP in Scotland to become informed and active citizens. Supporting CYP to engage, participate and influence decision making locally and nationally. Connecting decision makers with CYP and raising awareness of good practice in participation and engagement. Activity must engage CYP from a wide range of backgrounds, age groups and geographical areas.

9 Child Protection Human Trafficking and Exploitation (Scotland) Bill Stage 2 took place on 16 th June Amendments on presumption of age and independent child trafficking guardians Stage 3 expected in October Strategy is being developed in close consultation with children’s services sector

10 Child Protection Brock Report – 1 year on 12 recommendations accepted in full Working with partners towards the implementation of all recommendations Strategic leadership summit has been held

11 Getting it Right for Every Child (GIRFEC) Priorities Promotion of awareness and understanding of wellbeing Support for children and families in getting the right services at the right time Engaging with children and young people
