Frank Adding Content: Questions? Did you have time to practice with each of the 4 ways of adding content?

Quizzes Setting up your quizzes involves four phases: Creating a New Quiz Creating Questions in the Question Library Adding Questions to Created Quizzes (without randomizing) Adding Questions to Creating Quizzes (randomizing) Let’s Get Started… Click on Quizzes on bottom navigation bar

Click on New Quiz Complete the Properties screen for your new quiz and Save. Practice Quiz 1 Add grade item now If appropriate, check “auto grade” box

Click on Restrictions screen, add dates/times, & display in calendar, if desired. Also check Security Options boxes for Respondus LockDown Browser if you are requiring its use.

To allow multiple attempts, click on Attempts, select options from 2 pull-down menus, & Save Quiz. Click on Submission Views tab. If the Default View that appears says “Show Questions? No,” students will not be able to review their quiz later. To allow, click on Default View. Under View Details, click options you want & then Save View.

Creating Quiz Questions in Question Library Click on Question Library at top. To organize questions within the library, pull down to Create New Section, click GO, & name it. Examples: “Quiz 2, 2007” or “Quiz 2, Long Answers” or “Quiz 2, Multiple Choice & T/F.” (Note: If you’ll be randomizing questions, keep questions of same point value together in same section.) Click Save. Your new section appears in the library: Note: Although it’s possible to create questions directly in a quiz, it’s a good idea to create all questions in the Question Library, especially if you want them to be randomized in quizzes.

To add questions to this section of the library (Quiz 2, 2007), click on it. Let’s practice creating a T/F question, so pull down to Create New T/F Question. Click Go. Fill in title, point value, and question:

Scroll down and select correct answer. Click Save. Now this question (Mines) appears under this section of your library. To add other types of questions, pull down the menu to the type you want. Click Go. Fill in the title, points, and questions as you did above for T/F. For Multiple Choice questions, scroll down to the Value/Weight section and fill in choices and correct answer(s) with appropriate weight. Example….

Click Save (or Preview it first).

Adding Questions to Created Quizzes (Without Randomizing Them) Get back to your quiz by clicking on its link under Quizzes. Click on Layout/Questions and then on Add/Edit Questions. Click on Import. Complete… Click Save.

Adding Questions to Created Quizzes (Randomizing Them) Get back to your quiz by clicking on its link under Quizzes. Click on Layout/Questions and then on Add/Edit Questions. Select Random Section on pull down menu. Click Go. Give the Random Section a name, e.g. “Random 1.” Click Save. You’ll see a little purple folder next to Random 1. Click on that. Click on Import. Fill in source/destination info. Click Save.

Now indicate how many of the questions you want randomly picked. (It may be all of them.) Enter point value. Click Save. Double check by going back to your quiz’s Layout/Questions.
