2. Print Media Print Media is an elective program within the Technology Education Department. It is a multi step program that places major emphasis on the elements involved to create a graphic image and how to output that message through various print methods. The units of study include: design & typography desktop publishing offset lithographic printing screen printing bindery & finishing vinyl signs Students will be required to do selected reading in the textbook as well as industry related articles. Students are to keep notes and handouts concerning demonstrations. Unit tests and lab assignments will be used to measure student comprehension and achievement. Participation in class discussions is also required. A final exam is given at the end of the term. Assignment Information Lab/Project Assignments For grading purposes, projects are only accepted on the due date assigned, at the end of class All labs must have spec sheet and reflection questions attached Please remember to put your name on the project and rubric Standard Design & Reflection Rubric for each assignment in addition to Project Rubric Chapter Questions Must be completed in your notebook For full credit, the question and answer must be written out Points will be deducted if chapter questions are turned in late. Chapter questions will not be accepted after the unit test has been given In-Class Assignments Due at the end of class unless otherwise noted Will not be accepted for credit after the class unless absence is verified and excused Periodic NoteBook checks Unit Tests 3-4 per quarter One page study guide Participation Grade Weekly grade based on daily teacher observation

6. Graphic Communications Acceptable Computer Use Guidelines for Students Students will be polite and respect all users. Students will not use a computer to harm other people or their work. Students will not attempt to open any other person’s files or folders without permission from a teacher or administrator. Students will share equipment, time, and materials as directed by their teachers. Students will safeguard their safety and privacy and the safety and privacy of others. Students will not attempt to disable the Internet filter for any reason. Teachers may stop filtering temporarily but may not share the password with students. Students will not post or transmit the name, address, telephone number, email address, or other personal information about themselves or any other person, unless directed by a teacher to do so. Students will not share accounts or passwords. Students will work on school projects only. Students will not use the computer resources at school for personal purposes. Students will not access any personal email accounts from school computers except by special arrangement with a teacher or administrator. Use of chat rooms, instant messaging, and other similar interactive services from school computers for personal purposes is forbidden. Students will use appropriate language. Students will not swear or use any other form of abusive or inappropriate language that may insult, threaten, intimidate or hurt others. Students will use appropriate graphics. Students will not view, send, or display inappropriate or offensive pictures. Students who accidentally encounter inappropriate messages or pictures should notify a teacher immediately. Students will handle the hardware carefully. Students will not damage the computer or the network in any way. Unacceptable use of hardware includes, but is not limited to, unplugging equipment, disassembling the mouse, reconfiguring the equipment, and moving any equipment without permission. Students will respectfully manage the software. Students will not add or remove any software from any computer or network drive. Students will not change any established settings for Windows or any other software. Students will not attempt to circumvent limitations the school may place on their access to the system. Students will respect copyright and fair use laws. Students will properly acknowledge online sources. Students will not illegally copy, download, install, or re-sell software.
