18 The Role of the Working Group: Activating the Global Strategic Plan The establishment of the Working Group is the first step in making democracy education an international priority. Passage of the proposed United Nations Resolution on Education for Democracy will increase the scope and legitimacy of this commitment, linking the CD to UNESCO’s Education for All Initiative.

19 The Role of the Working Group: Activating the Global Strategic Plan The establishment of the Working Group is the first step in making democracy education an international priority. Democracy Education Conferences in Mongolia and India can set agendas that support the development of National and Regional Action Plans.

20 The Role of the Working Group: Activating the Global Strategic Plan CCD has assembled an international network of education experts to lend advice, share best practices, and work in partnership with the Working Group throughout the process.

21 The Role of the Working Group: Activating the Global Strategic Plan Civil Society and Governments in Partnership An international framework for democracy education A Resource Guide of Best Practices Pilot workshops to develop effective training approaches A public website for dissemination of ideas
