1 It’s Time for Password! The category is technological assets. What are some specific applications of technology that you can use with your students to help them develop oral communication skills? Created by Deborah Coker

2 A little background… before we play: Several applications lend themselves to the top- down intuitive-imitative approach which provides schemata on information foreign to students' backgrounds. Another also supports the bottom-up analytic- linguistic approach which focuses on lexical, phonological, and grammatical knowledge. (Butler-Pascoe & Wiburg, 2003)

3 Clue for phrase #1: This allows students to listen to fluent speakers as they perform songs, stories and poems in new language. All of these are great resources. And the application is….?

5 Clues for phrase #2: These allow students to tape themselves so they can practice pronunciation and fluency and then listen to the results. And the application is….?

6 Recording Devices! Try using devices such as: tape recorders video recorders computers with microphones (can be combined with PowerPoint) ipods voice mail

7 Clue for phrase # 3: These allow students to analyze a voice they hear and then they imitate the speaker after listening to a particular piece numerous times in order to practice oral skills. And the application is….?

8 Recordings! Software CD-Roms Sound files They are especially powerful because they are used independently and offer a safe environment to practice oral skills.

9 Clues for phrase # 4: These are great because they are interactive routines that allow students to practice language used in situations with real world relevance. They provide listening and speaking practice with a focus on pronunciation. And the application is….?
