5 What’s this course about? This course will prepare you for the technology you use in middle school, high school and beyond Since some of that technology has not been invented yet, I aim to teach you how to learn to use new software and other tools

6 Rules for the Start of Class DON’T open the computers until told to do so! Be on time! I will start most classes with instructions for the day, and you’ll miss them if you’re late! Please ask questions after instructions Don’t cross in front of the projector (anytime)! Don’t leave the room without checking with me

7 Big Five Rules (anytime) 1. Don’t Interrupt when I (or anyone else) is speaking 2. Be Patient when asking for help, and try to solve your problem while you’re waiting 3. Follow Directions and re-read them when you have a problem 4. Always Give Your Best Effort 5. Have Fun

15 Logging in to the computer When you turn on the computer, log into it: User name: student Password: student When using the student/student log in, DO NOT change anything about the desktop On the next slide I’ll show you how to log in under your own name

16 Logging in With Your Own Name Use the first two letters of your first name and your last name: User name: josmith Password: For this year only, you can save documents when logged in as yourself. THIS WON’T WORK NEXT YEAR! When you’re connected, go to http://www.kmsweb.org
