1 Carbohydrates Contains Carbon, Hydrogen, Oxygen
The ratio for these elements are 1:2:1 Sugars are examples of Carbs. The three sugars are Monosaccharides--Glucose Disaccharides--Sucrose Polysaccharides --Glycogen

2 Ribose is a sugar…

3 Lipids Lipids also contain Carbon, Hydrogen, Oxygen.
Lipids are different from carbohydrates because they contain less oxygen. Examples are Fats, Steroids, Waxes, Triglycerrides, Phospholipids

4 What is a triglyceride? A fat found in the blood. Most fat found in the diet and body fat is in the form of triglycerides.

5 What does "ice" have to do with "ice cream"
What does "ice" have to do with "ice cream"? Below is a typical triglyceride butterfat molecule from which ice cream is made. Ice cream is formed when many tiny ice crystals form between the "arms" of the triglyceride butterfat molecule.

6 Proteins Contains Carbon, Hydrogen, Oxygen, and Nitrogen.
Amino Acids are the building blocks of proteins. Proteins serve as structural materials, energy sources, hormones, and receptors on cell surfaces. These cell receptors are specialized to bond to particular kinds of molecules. Make up antibodies and enzymes.

7 3 Chemical Groups In An Amino Acid…
Amino Group (NH2) Carboxylic Acid Group (COOH) R Group (Specific to Each Type of Amino Acid)

8 Amino Acid
