4 Challenges For Admissions Athletics recruit independently admissions Different times of year (NLI) Seeking students with different qualifications Press Releases (before student applied/processed) Coaches calling admissions at will, not following protocol Coaches hosting a student on campus and not giving admissions heads up Not communicating through compliance Dropping into admissions office on demand Signed students whom were not yet admitted having issues registering for orientation and housing Students incorrectly advised on required documentation for admissions application International PSA (prospective student athlete) MACRAO Conference 2014. Schedule regular meetings for updates Set guidelines for each office to follow This establishes boundaries for all that are involved Coaches can only contact compliance Compliance is only contact to admissions Admissions provides updates to Athletics Send admissions publications for coaches to use Understand Coaches Perspective Regional Rules Other ways to educate MACRAO Conference 2014. Holds, Advising, Audits etc. Certification and Forms to Track Determine who creates and who requests completion A few types: Scholarship Award Certification Depends on grade roll – Can’t certify without current GPA Parts of terms – How long do you wait if you have a lot of parts? Transfer Eligibility Certification Eligibility for Competition (% of Degree, Sat Pro, 90/95 Rule) Annual APR non-retained/not registered retained will or will not graduate Graduated Retrained full or below full time MACRAO Conference 2014. 10 Registrar Challenges Dedicated, partial or team approach At OU, we take a partial and team approach. The Assistant Registrar and Senior Association Registrar both are the main liaisons, while their respective primary duties are still mostly non-athlete related.
