3 Foundation Graduation Program Foundation Plan Requires students to complete 22 credits: ELA—4 credits PE– 1 credit Mathematics—3 creditsLOTE—2 credits Science—3 creditsFine Arts—1 credit Social Studies—3 creditsElectives—5 credits ( including: Health, Prof. Communications & Money Matters) Requires students to complete 26 credits: 22 Foundation Credits * Credits must meet curriculum 1 additional math credit requirements for one endorsement. 1 additional science credit 2 additional elective credits Foundation + Endorsement Distinguished Level of Achievement A student may earn a distinguished level of achievement by successfully completing: 4 credits in Math (must include Algebra II) 4 credits in science Curriculum requirements for at least one endorsement Performance Acknowledgements Students may earn performance acknowledgements for outstanding performance in: Dual Credit (12 hours or more in Texas core) Bilingualism & Biliteracy AP test scores of 3 or above PSAT, ACT-PLAN, SAT or ACT National or International Business/Industry Certification or License

4 Distinguished Level of Achievement A student may earn a distinguished level of achievement by successfully completing: 1.Four credits in math, which must include Algebra II 2.Four credits in science 3.The remaining curriculum requirements 4.The curriculum requirements for at least one endorsement

5 Performance Acknowledgements Students may earn performance acknowledgements* for outstanding performance in: Dual Credit (12 hours or more in Texas core) Bilingualism & Biliteracy AP test scores of 3 or above PSAT, ACT-PLAN, SAT or ACT National or International Business/Industry Certification or License * 2016 High School Course Listing Guide – Pages 21-22 includes detailed criteria which must be followed to earn performance acknowledgements.

6 Speech Requirement A specific speech course will not be a requirement under the Foundation High School Program. New Requirement: To receive a high school diploma, a student must demonstrate proficiency, as determined by the district in which the student is enrolled in: 1.Delivering clear verbal messages 2.Choosing effective nonverbal behaviors 3.Listening for desired results 4.Applying valid critical-thinking and problem-solving processes 5.Identifying, analyzing, developing, and evaluating communication skills needed for professional and social success in interpersonal situations, group interactions, and personal and professional presentations.

7 Endorsements A student may earn an endorsement by successfully completing: 1.Curriculum requirements for the endorsement 2.Four credits in math 3.Four credits in science 4.Two additional elective credits

12 Work-Based Learning The CTE Career Prep courses listed below are offered to all CTE students. Career Prep provides opportunities for students to participate in a learning experience that combines classroom instruction with paid business and industry employment experiences. Career Prep I (works minimum of 10 hrs per week) Students earn 2 credits for yearlong course. Career Prep II (works minimum of 15 hrs per week) Students earn 3 credits for yearlong course.
