Your child should bring his/her agenda home daily and return it to school every day. This will be our tool for communication. Please write excuses for absences on a separate piece of paper and place in agenda pocket. We must send these to the office. (remember after 2 unexcused absences a conference will be scheduled. More than 10 absences, a doctors note must be submitted for absences.) Please place lengthy notes and any money inside the plastic pocket in the front of the agenda. We will check this daily. When sending money, please place the money in an envelope labeled with your child’s name, student number, and purpose of money. There is a $10.00 replacement fee for lost agendas The yellow vinyl folder is used as a take home folder for any paperwork.

We have a short working snack break daily. Quick, healthy snack Refrain from allowing sodas to be brought for snack. Juice drinks or water would be appropriate. Ice cream Money should be kept separate from all other money. The students are responsible for keeping up with this money and paying the lunch monitors when purchasing ice cream.

Georgia Professional Standards and Curriculum Mapping The Georgia State board of Education and the Cherokee County School District mandate that certain guidelines be followed for teaching your child, and that the performance standards are guided by use with the curriculum map written for each of the academic areas. Curriculum maps allow the curriculum to be paced in such a way that all required material is covered and that all teachers are teaching in the same timely manner. It is an excellent tool for parents as well to help see what your child will be studying next.

During the week, your child will have various homework assignments. Your child will be responsible for keeping up with their weekly homework. Homework assignments may be recorded in the grade book so it is important for your child to complete them. Several assignments may involve parent participation. Each assignment should require no more than 20-30 minutes. Make-up work will be sent home and should be returned promptly unless otherwise denoted. We ask that you and your child read nightly. Homework

Homework tips: Choose a quiet place for your child to work. Establish a nightly routine/time for homework completion. Go over the assignment with your child after completion to check for mistakes and discuss any misunderstandings.
