4 Leadership Notebooks * This year students will be more involved in taking responsibility for their own education. Each student will set trimester academic and personal goals and will track and graph data to support their progress in a Leadership Notebook. Progress on school WIGs, grade level WIGs, and personal WIGs will be contained in these notebooks. * Each student’s Leadership Notebook will also become a place for celebrating achievements and leadership roles, serving as a portfolio of the student’s leadership. * Student-led conferences will allow students to share these notebooks with their family members and discuss areas of strength and areas where help is needed. This empowers students to feel that they are in charge of their own learning.

5 San Onofre School WIGs: * All students will increase a performance band in Reading Comprehension by the end of third trimester and students below grade level standards will increase a grade level and a half. * All students will improve one performance band on Number Sense grade level standards by the end of third trimester. * 100% of our students will identify with a Leadership Role in their classroom or schoolwide by the end of third trimester. ** Also have 3 rd grade WIGs by Trimester ** Students will also make some of their own (fluency, timed facts)

6 * Foundational Skills- phonics, fluency, vocabulary * Reading Comprehension- Literature (fiction), Informational (non-fiction) * Language- vocabulary, spelling, grammar * Speaking and Listening * Writing- opinion, informative, narrative

7 * Operations and Algebraic Functions (OA)- multiplication, division, word problems with all 4 operations * Number Base Ten (NBT)- place value, rounding * Fractions (NF) * Geometry (G)- attributes of shapes and solids * Measurement and Data (MD)- telling time, elapsed time, liquid volume, mass, area, perimeter, graphing

8 * PE: Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays from 9:15-9:50 * Library: Tuesdays from 9:10-9:40 * Counseling lessons: Thursdays from 9:00-9:20 (leader and learning skills) * Computer Lab: 1 day a week (typing skills, Math program) * Buddies with Mrs. Sherer’s class: Mondays from 1:00-1:20 * Meet the Masters (Art)- 1 day a month * STEAM rotations: Tuesday, Thursday, Friday from 12:55-1:40 * McConnell- Science/Engineering * Parker- Arts (Music, Performing Arts) * Ralston- Social Studies/Technology

9 * Team Meeting 8:15-8:30 * Reading 8:30-9:15 * Recess 9:50-10:05 * Strategic ELA 10:05-10:50 (DLR, Paragraph of the Week, Fluency and Comprehension, Lexia, reading at own level) * Math 10:50-11:35 * Lunch 11:35-12:15 * Strategic Math 12:20-12:55 (Number Talk, Fact practice, problem solving, Dreambox) * Writing 1:40-2:20

10 * Students are given a reasonable amount of time to complete. * Using time wisely=students can turn in incomplete work * Not completed or not using time wisely: * Work folder- finish when other work is done * Sent home * Recess

11 * Math- get on Monday, return daily * Math problem solving- get on Wednesday, return on Friday * ELA- get on Monday, return on Friday * Counseling- get on Thursday, return Friday

12 Reading (3 out of 4 weeks): Read 15-20 minutes per night (same text ) * Shorter books: reread the same book all week * Longer books: read each night, reread as needed * Chapter books: read 1-2 chapters per night * myOn: can also be used for reading homework * Rotate between Literature and Informational text Writing (1 out of 4 weeks): Writing Prompt for the week

13 * Monday: Foundational Skills or Language * Tuesday: Vocabulary * Wednesday: Comprehension * Thursday: Foundational Skills (fluency) * Get Monday and due Friday

14 * Daily work- Do 1 section of paper per night, return to school each day * Related to CCSS * Review in class daily * New concepts: problem solve and persevere * Wednesday night- Problem Solving, due Friday

15 * Follow school and class expectations and 7 habits * 3 Strikes * Strike 1- Warning * Strike 2- Think About It at recess * Strike 3- Lose recess, parent contact * Rewards for no strikes or 1 strike

18 * Dress Code: closed toed shoes (safety reasons); shirts/dresses with 2 finger wide straps * School starts at 8:15. Students are late if not at the room by the time the class arrives. * Wednesdays: Early Release Days (1:15 pm) * Snack/Recess: 9:50-10:05 * Lunch: 11:35-12:15 * Students use bathroom and wash hands first

19 * No arrivals before 7:45 * Before 8 am= sit at tables * 8:00-8:15= play time * Backpacks on Line #15 * Students in building: with a pass or adult * Volunteers: 1 st : complete application (must have TB test) * Day of volunteering: get volunteer sticker/badge for when you sign in at office

20 * Students high-5 me * I walk them to front * Mon/Tue/Thurs/Fri: 2:20 * Wed: 1:15 * Minimum Days: 12:30 * Car pick up: first 2 cars only * Names on emergency cards- only people allowed to pick up child

21 * Student birthdays: non-food items only * Book dedicated to student, donated to class library * Game to play, donate to rainy day games tub * 2 celebrations/parties: * December- Merry Math Party * June- Birthday Party * All parties will be food free, due to food allergies (policy for entire school)

22 * Box tops and soup labels * Join the PTA * Classroom supply sheet * Classroom volunteer * Sign up sheet * Fall Festival: October * Silent Auction basket: Fall Fun (fall themed items)

23 * Sept. 7- No School- Labor Day * Mid Trimester Reports sent home * Fall Festival- Friday, October 30 (5-8 pm) * Conferences- October 6-9 (Tue-Fri) * See sign up list, if you’d like to sign up tonight
